Solana is a Layer 1 blockchain utilizing a Proof of History (PoH) consensus mechanism, designed for high throughput, low fees, and energy efficiency. Written in Rust, Solana addresses the timestamp synchronization problem inherent in traditional consensus mechanisms. By introducing PoH as a global time source, Solana enables nodes to quickly reach consensus without the need for intensive communication, significantly reducing validation time and improving performance.
